Ruff and Tumble 2 - Invasion of the Dog Eating Yetis

My last post reminds me that I haven't proclaimed from on high that the second book in the Ruff and Tumble series - Invasion of the Dog Eating Yetis - is now available from Amazon in paperback and Kindle.

Christmas Fairs

I have now had a stall at two Christmas Fairs and have sold many unique gifts, if that isn't a contradition in terms:)

I think I could have sold more though, if I had Ruff and Tumble 2 and Tyger Pants in print.  I think I'll have to raid the piggy bank.  Either that or rob a bank...

I will be at the Donkey Sanctuary in Ivybridge on Saturday 7th December, so come and see me there.

Ruff and Tumble - Invasion of the Goblin HordeRuff and Tumble - Invasion of the Goblin Horde by Royston Wood
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It's fantastic. But then I would think so because I am the author!

Seriously - a funny read with lovable characters. Written to be accessible to young children but is proving equally popular with adults (in the same vein as Winnie the Pooh - although not particularly like Winnie the Pooh).

Ruff and Tumble now available on Amazon as a paperback.  Making final touches to the Kindle version.  Because it is illustrated and has fancy fonts it needs to be a fixed layout book.  This is technical but basically means it cannot be rescaled.  Therefore will not be available on all Kindle devices.  Best read in paper!

Ruff and Tumble now have their own Facebook page so they can keep in touch.

I am just putting the final touches to a new book called Ruff and Tumble.

Whilst written to be accessible to a younger audience, ages 5-8, it has wider appeal.  Will even make an enjoyable, light hearted read for adults, in the same way that Winnie the Pooh does.

Ruff and Tumble are dogs with jobs:  as Pack Protectors they must keep invaders out of the Pack Lands.  This is mainly done by barking a lot.  But if something really horrible, like a Trolley of Trolls, comes banging on the door they attack with swords and battleaxes.

This is just what does happen, except it turns out to be a deliveryman.  But that is enough to get Ruff’s imagination working wildly.  He is soon mixing up all the things that happen to him in the day with the storyline of the book he is reading (The Goblin Horde).  He starts dreaming that he is Righteous Rufus, mighty Warrior and hero, who must stop the invasion of the Goblin Horde.

Unfortunately he then starts mixing his dreams back into real life.  His toys have gone missing and if he doesn’t get them back the Goblin Horde will invade the Pack Lands and murder everyone in their beds!

Tumble doesn’t want to believe in any of it.  After all, there are no such things as goblins.  But she slowly gets caught up in Ruff enthusiasm to the point where she is chasing goblins through the woods.

Ruff (Rufus) is a Scottish Terrier.  He is black and shaggy and gets overly excited.  He is also a little nervy.  He has far too much imagination for his own good and reads books which only fire him up more.  He tends to get a bit confused between real life and his dreams.

Tumble (Thumbelina) is a Pembrokeshire Corgi.  She describes the breed as, ‘an ancient, Welsh, wolf like breed, not overly tall, used for herding cattle, very graceful and beautiful.’  She thinks quite a lot of herself but is willing to get her paws dirty to do what is right.  She acts like Ruff’s older sister.

In fact Ruff and Tumble are very much like brother and sister: they tease each other, play tricks and banter a lot, but ultimately they look out for each other.

Well, I've done it.  I have published my first children's book on Amazon - Tyger Pants.

Synopsis (what the story is about):

It’s National Take Your Kids to Work Day and Tyger Pants, a typical 9 year old boy, should be looking forward to a day off school. But unfortunately his dad isn't a cool fire fighter and his mum isn't a policewoman. His dad’s a librarian - DULL!

Dull that is until his dad is called away to an emergency meeting, leaving his uncharacteristically cool iRate3 phone lying on the desk. Tyger can’t help but fiddle…

But the phone is really a top secret Library Service Editor and before Tyger knows what’s happening he’s plunged into a terrifying fantasy world of werewolves, dragons and spell casting armadillos. Cretin the Cruel and his Werebeast Army are about to invade and, if he ever wants to get home again, it’s up to Tyger to stop them.
